NEW Media Literacy Class at King's
There is a new Media Literacy class available this year for 10th-12th graders at Kings!
Media surrounds each one of us every day. Whether we seek it out or not, it impacts our lives. The objective of this course is to equip students to think critically about media; to analyze the techniques, purposes and messages in the media we consume every day. We will learn how to transfer the literacy skills of decoding and deconstruction in order to interpret and understand the media we see, hear, and share.
The course structure will be a hybrid of Asynchronous and Synchronous lessons completed on a regular class schedule, with regular interaction with the course instructor, Mrs. Olson. In addition to sharing the role of youth pastor with her husband at Church of the King, Mrs. Olson is the Teacher Librarian at Lake George High School, where she works with all content areas and grade levels to teach literacy, research, and inquiry skills.
A more in depth explanation of Media Literacy will be available at Open House, or you are welcome to email solson@kingsschool.info for more information.
