Weekly Homework Goals:
Spelling: Lesson 32 this week (words are in comp. book).
Math: If your child completes their homework side during class they will leave it in their mailbox until HW collection in the AM. We have completed our study of all the addition facts 0-9and the subtraction facts 0-9. We have a goal right now of 100 subtraction facts in 5min. If your child seems overly anxious please let me know. We will continue these drills periodically. Last week we have began learning our first set of multipication facts the 5’s!!!!! This week we are learning our 2’s. The kids are picking it up very quickly. I am sooooo very proud!!
Bible: Our verse this month is Titus 2:6-8. The theme is self-control.
What We Are Up To :)
Writing: We have now covered all of the writing traits in our curriculum and it is time to use them all in our story writing. We have begun writing stories to share with each other and other classes. It is exciting to see so many budding authors!
Reading Focus: We have been discussing and determining the plot and theme of our stories. This includes understanding main ideas and details.
Science: We are finishing our unit on investigating solids and liquids. We have learned about states of matter and how to measure their volume. This week we will review and take a test on this unit.
Notes to Parents:
Thanks for all of your hard work on your reading logs this year!! We are now going to be concentrating on reading chapter books and on doing book reports. The first book report was a success. The next report will be due 5/14. Please be reading the book your child chose each night. A form will be sent home soon.
